the silver lining
Even though I didn't get into the Health Informatics program...I got into the evening degree program at UW!
Basically, when I applied to the HIHIM program, I also had to apply to UW's evening degree school separately. My adviser called and left a message saying I was denied by HIHIM but accepted by UW evening degree and I could declare a general major if I still wanted to attend the university. Of course its a bummer that I didn't get into the program I want, but at this point I want to focus on getting my bachelor's degree. I think its going to be a great opportunity to explore my options and find out what I really want to do with my life. I know I still have a long way to go, but I'm so thankful for that acceptance letter in the mail. Things were looking so bleak in the work/school part of my life that it was negatively affecting all the other aspects of it.
So here I go, a new chapter in t-minus 15 days! I'm a husky now...crazy.
before I forget...

bleh.
Back to square one...
Staying positive means staying sane.
I'm not gonna lie though - I feel pretty left out. I feel a little lost.

A Beautiful Mess / Jason Mraz
You've got the best of both worlds
You're the kind of girl who can take down a man,
And lift him back up again
You are strong but you're needy,
Humble but you're greedy
And based on your body language,
And shoddy cursive I've been reading
Your style is quite selective,
though your mind is rather reckless
Well I guess it just suggests
that this is just what happiness is
Hey, what a beautiful mess this is
It's like picking up trash in dresses
Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you write
Kind of turn themselves into knives
And don't mind my nerve you could call it fiction
But I like being submerged in your contradictions dear
'Cause here we are, here we are
Although you were biased I love your advice
Your comebacks they're quick
And probably have to do with your insecurities
There's no shame in being crazy,
Depending on how you take these
Words they're paraphrasing this relationship we're staging
And what a beautiful mess, yes it is
It's like picking up trash in dresses
Well it kind of hurts when the kind of words you say
Kind of turn themselves into blades
And the kind and courteous is a life I've heard
But it's nice to say that we played in the dirt
Cause here, here we are, Here we are
Here we are
We're still here
What a beautiful mess, this is
It's like taking a guess when the only answer is "Yes"
Through, timeless words and priceless pictures We'll fly like birds not of this earth
And tides they turn and hearts disfigure
But that's no concern when we're wounded together
And we, tore our dresses and stained our shirts
But its nice today. Oh the wait was so worth it.

Feelings...nothing more than feelings
Last post was in March?! YIKES. I haven't been journaling either... Probably because:
1) I want to start fresh with a new journal. The one I've been using since the apple juice incident was start in 2007. I guess just having my thoughts from two different times in my life, so close together doesn't feel right.
2) I like getting new journals.
I have started another Spring Quarter at NSCC and its going alright so far. I'm taking Elementary Statistics (my last prereq for the HIHIM program) and Painting. I like statistics because I think my teacher is pretty good. He's tough but I should appreciate that especially if I intend to actually learn something. I haven't bought my book yet. I know, I know. 3rd week into the quarter without a book = not good. I'll get it tomorrow. Probably. Maybe.
Painting is amazing! I was super sad when I thought I would have to drop it though. Luckily, I have a boyfriend to talk some sense into me. (Thanks MJ) My teacher is a 60 something-no-bullshit kinda guy, who intimidated me at first. I hate it when people read what I'm writing over my shoulder, so it's even worse if someone does it while I'm painting or drawing. I had to get over it eventually because he does it all the time. So many of my classmates are really talented. I just hope to learn more and hopefully improve.
My good friend Noel is here on leave from Italy! I can't believe he's already leaving tomorrow :( We were able to see each other the last two weeks. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit him before he gets stationed elsewhere. I want to travel!! Arggh.
I applied to UW's Health Informatics and Health Information program on Tax Day. I must say, I am a bit nervous/anxious/scared. Everyone that I've talked to who know about it/graduated from it say it is super easy to get into. I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse. If I don't get in, I'll feel crappy because I couldn't get into a super easy program. If I do get in, well, I'll be effing happy! Haha. Seriously, I don't think that getting into any program at any four year university is going to be "super easy." I find out on or before May 15th, my god sister Charmane's birthday. CROSSING FINGERS.
Work is good. I'm still just happy to be working. After my first pay check, I can't believe I stayed at Victoria's Secret for so long! 3 years and I got paid in pennies it seems. Now that my UW app is done, it's time to start that job hunt again! Congrats Sheena for getting a job at Fred Hutch! You give me hope!
I haven't been working out lately. I can feel myself getting weaker. I'm planning on running tomorrow and going to my first hot yoga class tomorrow. I want to get back in shape! The gym is having another challenge come May so I gotta get ready!
I guess that's all for now. I've had good days and bad but I've learned to be grateful for the life I have and the wonderful people in it.
Speaking of wonderful people......

ready!

Job searching should be my job for as much time I'm putting in. I guess that would mean I'm bad at my job since I can't seem to accomplish anything. Lame. Is this a sign that I'm supposed to be a housewife for the rest of my life? Maybe later. Waaay later. I think its sad that I don't have an absolute dream job. (You guys are lucky.) I'm not sure why this is. When I was little I wanted to write and illustrate my own books. I can't say that wouldn't be a sweet deal. My indifference really bothers me. Maybe its not indifference. I wish I knew what I want to be when I grow up. (Kid at heart!) I wish I knew what my personal legend was or at least where I was supposed to start looking for it. (Read The Alchemist by Paul Coelho) The best I can hope for is pursue my bachelor's degree and find what I'm looking for on the journey. I can do this! I'm ready!
P.S. I have awesome, wonderful, motivating, inspiring people in my life. I love you guys!

Stupid groundhog
I guess it means 6 more weeks of winter. Boo. Well, if it doesn't rain on the 14th I'll be a happy camper. I wish I could post about what I'm doing that day but it wouldn't be a surprise anymore. All I will say is it better not rain!
Still on that job hunt...It's rough out there. I know I'll find something. I have to.
I've been trying to go to the gym more often and am eating 80% paleo for the month of February! It's only the second day but I think I'm gonna be alright. Just trying not to think about the things I can't eat (like brownies, milk & cookies, ice cream, sushi...who's idea was this?). It's going to help me cook more too! Yay!
The end of an era came this weekend and I still can't make sense of it all. I think its because what happened changed who I was (for the better) and who I wanted to be. The only way I can sort of describe it would be having surgery. Like I had a scar for years and years, from an intense operation. It definitely doesn't hurt anymore but when I looked at it, I remembered that I got through it. And then waking up one morning with the battle wound gone. I feel like something is missing but at the same time I am relieved. Its bittersweet. I said what I wanted to say and as long as I was able to do that, I'm content. Goodbye. 100%.
